We meet Nala, who is looking to vindicate her sister. She has reason to believe that Xavier Crow had something to do with her death, since Tasha was a very healthy young woman dying from a heart attack was too convenient. Nala had received a letter from Tasha, letting her know that she was being watched and followed in the last several weeks of her life. So, Nala leaves her home in Nevada and moves back to Portland to find out what really happened to her sister. She needs to find a way to get to Crow, but he is a very wealthy man who is hard to confront.She finally ends up at one of his bars and stumbles upon a private room. However, when she tries to sneak in, she nearly falls and is saved from the mysterious man that was sitting at the bar earlier. From what she had overheard, there was no love lost between the two men, so she is greatly surprised when he makes a proposition to her. He will get her in, but she must pretend to be his sub / girlfriend. Since she has no idea what being a sub means, she is shocked at what happens in the meeting they attend.
Nala may be young and inexperienced with the ways of the world, but she is definitely kick-ass and straight forward. I love her 'take no prisoners' attitude and the fact that she makes no bones about taking Vincent's money. She needs the money to eat and he promised that he would provide the clothes and accessories that she would need in order to infiltrate the underbelly of the PNW. What secrets will she and Vincent discover - about each other and about Xavier Crow? There are a lot of twists and turns in this first book and I am looking forward to the next one, to find out who the mystery 'friend' is. I think I know, but with Cynthia, you never know until you know.

I enjoyed this story, but I really can't give it anymore than 3 stars. Why, because I am so tired of poorly constructed sentences, wrong words used or misspelled, to the point that it takes away from the tale itself.
I don't know how Nala can keep her hands off of Vincent! She's way stronger than I could be! Vincent is hot and mysterious. I can't wait to find out what happens next!! Two lost souls hell bent on revenge, sounds like an exciting read! I received a ARC for an honest review but I had to purchase my own copy because I loved it so much!
This series started out with an introduction into the heartache felt by the the two main characters, the mystery that has you guessing to figure out how and why, and to the BDSM exclusive club that the main characters infiltrate themselves into and why. Aside from the hot, steamy, sexual scenes greatly described in detail, you're drawn to the reasons these two get involved with each other and I found myself reading non-stop into the wee hours of the night to find out what would happen next and rooting for outcomes that now brings me to book two that I just downloaded and can't wait to start reading. If you like books involving BDSM then you'll love this series. If you can get past that part if you're not bothered by it but not necessarily into those sorts stories, I'd still recommend reading this, as there's much more than that to this story.
